Diviin had had her share of regular humans today, what with the dull history teacher and the hum drum English teacher; both going on tangents and both seemingly too excited over the subject to ever understand a child's complete disinterest in it. She was only in her second class of the day however, and all she wanted to do, with Morgana's urging of course, was just...kill everyone, to be perfectly blunt. You had the idiots passing notes, you had the jocks trying to flex their muscles at the pretty girls...whatever was she thinking coming here in the first place? She could've been on her own. She knew how to handle herself. But that whisper remained, and the shadow of doubt in her mind as Morgana's soothing voice stroked her inner mind. You know why we're here love, so you can transform into the dark queen I know you are. That library holds more secrets than Fort Knox... The voice seemed to trail off into oblivion as Diviin's eyes fluttered shut a moment, the voice like the feel of a lovers finger tips against your cheek.
"Mizzzzz Woods, is there something we can join in on?"
The old grizzled man at the front of the class spoke, glaring at her out of his spectacles. Even Morgana hated him, and often had to help poor Diviin even stay awake during his class. His air of over confidence over the subject matter was sickening, and only the few elite students who had nothing better to do than to study and spend time with their professors really liked him. The subject matter was of no consequence to Diviin. Math...such a trivial thing. To Morgana, it just meant knowing how many people she had killed in one day. To Diviin, it meant how many days until she had last seen her sister, since it was the only thing she dare count right now.
Innocently as she could, she looked up to the teacher; trying her best to contort her expression into something more than sarcasm.
"Oh, I just, I'm trying to stay enthralled in your lecture, but the cramps are too much right now. Can I please go lay down in my dorm room?"
The male teacher was completely thrown off by her feminine issue she was suggesting, and though any other time he would have told her to get over it...he just stood dumbfounded with a flush in his cheeks.
"Fine, just get out and stop disrupting the class."
Diviin hadn't even had to beg. She'd have to keep that one in the bag for later, to try again. She bowed to him as she walked out, praising him...before rolling her eyes as she turned and exited the door.
It was only about ten in the morning, by the way the sun was in the sky. If she wanted to find her sister-now would be the best time. Morgana just hummed in the back of her mind, waiting for her to ask her something as she moved amongst the milling students, but Diviin stayed silent for now. She did not want to provoke Morgana in the middle of the school yard, or missing math would be the least of her worries. Why did she have to find out y left x? Diviin had better things to do with her time.
She hugged her back pack tight to her shoulder, inside was the grimoire her mother had kept. It was supposed to go to the eldest daughter, but since Erviin had been excommunicated, it went instead to Diviin. Inside were spells dating back even to ancient greece; she just needed the right cipher. She had thought about possibly asking the lunatic of an English teacher they had on campus, but decided better of it...he would find out what she wanted it for.
For now, she just needed to get out of the school grounds and into the woods, where she had felt her sister's presence before. She also didn't have the right type of things with her; it wasn't like she could carry her athame around in public. The grimoire people were dumb enough to think it was just a journal, or worst of all was when bible mistook it for a bible. She hugged the book bag closer as she looked forlornly toward the library. Soon, my sweet, soon you will know all there is to know in that back room. Rules had to be kept for the magical students so they did not get too powerful too quickly, or stumble into something that may harm their learning, so they were only allowed certain selected books from the magic room their first year. After passing it, they would be allowed to enter at will. It was the way the college was after a particular incident not too long ago.
Her focus turned ahead, and she saw her exit path. All she needed was a diversion. She smirked as such an opportunity arose as the gym class went jogging around the side of the fields. Closing her eyes, she flicked her energy outward toward the tree that overhang, and a branch cracked and came down just as two of the runners ran under it. It was not a heavy branch, but it was enough to knock the wind out of them...and the others behind them to create a bit of a pile up when they slid on the still wet grass and toppled onto them. A small giggle escaped her, mostly from Morgana within. If it had been up to Morgana, the whole tree would be down and they would be killed. Everyone rushed toward them to help, ignoring the girl standing in all black just staring at them a moment...before turning away and heading out the front gate of the school.
As soon as she was outside of it, she could feel a great weight lifted from her shoulders. She smirked as she felt Morgana stretching out into her body further; feeling less confined. We should find somewhere to practice, my sweet. Diviin just laughed, throwing her head back and finally letting her hair tumble down her back at its full length as she pulled the hoodie off from over her head. How she hated modern clothing. It was so heavy. So...destructive. She unzipped it and shoved it in her back pack, revealing the black top she had on underneath. The sleeves were weaving lace, hanging loosely on her body. The henna tattoos on her shoulders were plainly visible, one for night and one for dark in the language of the fey. She crumbled up the jacket and shoved it into her book bag, being careful not to let the synthetic material touch the grimoire. Who knew what it might do to her precious? She kicked her shoes off next, walking through the grass and picking them up-shoving them in her bag as well. They had to be worn at all times on campus; but it was so much more natural to feel the earth beneath her feet. She looked around as she walked for something natural to do the spell with; if her sister truly had given up on humanity, than nothing that had touched man made things would be able to track her.
It took her some time through the woods, enjoying the crisp air of the morning, no matter the humidity, before she spied the two instruments. The tree had been split by a storm not too long ago, and the branch with it's perfectly sharp edges, lay fallen across the path. It would need a considerable amount of force to pierce her skin, but it would be perfect. And, it would also be a perfect place away from wandering eyes to stash the man made items she needed for school so she didn't have to carry them around. Taking only the grimoire out of the book bag, she hid the bag in the brush of the tree. She picked up the sharpest of the sticks she could find, and stood, moving out of the center of the path and sitting for a moment on the stump of the tree, paging through the book. She wished she could speak to Morgana more freely, but with no water and no mirror around she could not summon her without letting her take over-and then her chance of looking for her sister today would be lost. She knew Morgana had other plans.
Her finger tips landed on the spell, and she read through it.
"Show me now the light I seek;
for though the powers may be meek-
I do not wish to search all week.
Let my feet not stray;
So that I might find them by the end of the day."
Saying the words and envisioning her sister in her mind for a moment; blonde hair, blue eyes...pretty as everything and so much more than Diviin ever hoped she could be, bathed in the light of sun, Diviin drove the stick into her palm. She did not cry out; the scars along her arms were evident that this was not the first time she had done this. Finally, blood trickled. She squeezed her fist together, letting the drops fall to the page, where they seemed to immediately sizzle and rise up as steam. Each drop would be needed to summon the wisps that would lead her to find her sister. If she could do twenty or so, that would be perfect enough for now. She dug her finger nails against her skin willing the blood to come.
She drew in a deep breath and opened her eyes, the tiny red whisps floating in the air. She was the only one who could see them, but she enjoyed it each time. There were other ways to summon the wisps; but blood was the easiest for her. Standing with the grimoire open to the page, she followed after them, not bothering to wrap the hand just holding the stick in it, letting the pressure of it help to stop the bleeding.
The wisps lead her further away from the beaten path; weaving in and around trees as was their custom. They did not lead you as the crow flew, they lead you the way that they had been, to the places where they had been.
It seemed like forever as she walked along, staying quiet so as not to break the concentration she had on the wisp. It wasn't for another hour or so that she came upon the clearing that lead to the hot springs. It was the heat in the rocks beneath her feet that she felt first; but then she saw the wisp hanging over the pool. Fearing the worst, she raced for it, nearly stumbling in if it weren't for Morgana hitting a reflex to stop the grimoire from touching the water. The wisp poofed out, and no others remained. Diviin growled, slamming the grimoire shut. She needed a moment to think.
"Show me the darkest knight;
A witch who hides within the light-
keeping dark this endless night,
show me my teacher but hold her tight."
She almost hissed out the spell as she leaned down to the water, skimming her bloody palm against the water's surface. She could see her reflection as she did so, but as the blood dripped into the water the image began to change slightly, and move on it's own accord. A voice arose from the waters then, the lips of the reflection moving independently now.
"My little black bird, why so flustered? The wisp must have led you here for a reason. Look around and see if you can find traces of her."[/i]
Diviin sighed, setting the grimoire on a rock out of reach of the water's waves. She knew Morgana would try to steal it; even if it was weak family spells. There was so much more in that book than she ever realized though. Now temporarily free of Morgana, she felt a little lighter still, and moved across the earth almost like a spectre; light on her feet and just touching the ground with her tippy toes. She looked high and low, until about the pool she found a strand of hair. Just a strand of the blonde hair. Showing it with a grin to Morgana, she was reminded by the scolding look on her elder's face of how much growing up she still had to do. Gulping, and standing tall, she looked to the waters within.
"Shall I try scrying for her with it?"
Morgana's attention was suddenly distracted a moment. A hiss escaped her, but also a laugh that Diviin had heard only once before, and it chilled her to the bone.
"I have something more intriguing for you, my sweet. Another test of your strength, if you will. Something draws near that we should trap. It may be able to help us find your sister."
A cold chill ran up Diviin's spine as she stared into the reflection that stared back at her. She would not back down from a challenge, ever, and Morgana knew that. But if something was coming, she also did not want them finding what she was doing looking for her delicate sister. Even if it meant destroying a chance to find her sister, she would not let anything evil come near her.
"Pray tell, what must I do?"
Her voice was commanding, but still had the same hint of innocence that her Math teacher had gotten the full dose of. Morgana seemed to excited to notice, or perhaps she merely didn't care. Which made the shadow of the doubt inside Diviin's head worry more.
"The sigil of Balthazar can trap anything non human short of an actual God, but for it to be of full strength it will need to be drawn in the blood of a virgin. You...are still a virgin, right?"[/i]
It wasn't like Morgana hadn't been living inside of her head for the past few years, but there was a time when she had been free of Morgana. Diviin just nodded, and began looking for something to cut herself with. Again, natural was always better, but with the amount of rocks around surely there was one with a sharp enough edge.
"You'll need to do that hide spell I taught you, so that the sigil cannot be seen until it is too late and they are trapped in it. And then, my princess, come with me into the water so that I may cleanse your wounds; and we will stain the water red with your blood to tempt them ever closer."[/i]
Diviin again felt the shiver up her spine, this was a horrible idea if Morgana was calling her princess. None the less, she followed the wise witch's instructions. Surely if Morgana could sense that something was nearing, then they may already be too late to create the sigil. Diviin had to work fast then, and found the sharpest rock she could find. Hitting it against one of the boulders, she chipped it down so that it had a point. Morgana nodded, and Diviin went to stab at her wrist; but thought better of it. People would see it there, and ask questions. The hand had already bled; she would not be able to get blood out of it fast enough anyway.
She pulled her shirt off, and tossed it to lay over the grimoire. She unclipped her bra, as she did not want it getting bloody, blood was a horrible thing to have to wash out of clothing. She tossed it aside to, and glanced down at her skirt...it was one of her favorites, and by the time she got a chance to wash it, the stain would have set. Having nothing on but a pair of briefs, she decided to lose those too...she really needed to pick a better color than white to wear.
She turned to face Morgana, who looked upon her innocent untainted form slightly hungrily; as if she wanted to be in such a form again. Diviin only smirked, liking to have at least this power of Morgana, and then stabbed into her chest between her breast with the make shift rock dagger. It started as only a small trickle, but as she dug in and downward, it started flowing more heavily. Once she got to the bottom of her ribcage, she stopped-if she punctured too far she knew what could transpire. Tossing the dagger aside she stood there with the blood dripping down a moment. She felt a pureness in it, and was lost for a moment. There was so much she could do right now. But she had to work quickly.
She ran her hand over her chest, coating her finger tips in blood as she dropped to the stones, scrabbing her knees, and started to draw the sigil while she chanted gently, the chant echoed by the voice in the water.
"Hide this power,
bind this power;
keep it safe in highest tower,
so that I will not be the one to cower."
It sounded silly, almost like a nursery rhyme, but Morgana had taught the girl how to use it on the grimoire multiple times around some of the more magically inclined teachers, and they had not even sensed its existence. She kept muttering it as she rubbed her hand against her chest once more, the blood spreading out across it and her abdomen; she looked like she had been greatly wounded. Crawling about on the stones, she finished the circle around the sigil, and leaned up to look down at it. She saw it briefly with a pulse of the spell, and then it faded. It would appear again only if it was activated.
"Come my sweet child let me heal you."
The soft, whimsical voice of Morgana teased her ear drums, and though the blood still dripped from her she turned to the water and crawled in, sliding in head first off of the rocks. The water in the small alcove of it instantly began to tint pink, and then red with her blood. Morgana's image wavered at her touch, and she was trapped once more inside of Diviin's mind, instead of in the water. As exhausted as Diviin was though, perhaps even a little light headed from blood loss, she did not mind that Morgana took over more than just her mind. Her eyes flashed a deep green as it seemed Morgana took the driving seat, Diviin too weak to fight it. As Morgana settled Diviin's rump against the walls of the small enclosure, letting her arms float to the top, she simply looked out over the lands, awaiting whatever it was that she had sensed was following them.
"Something wicked this way comes..."
She mused, as she let all of herself except the eyes and nose be submerged in the bloody waters.

As Morgana settled Diviin's rump against the walls of the small enclosure, letting her arms float to the top, she simply looked out over the lands, awaiting whatever it was that she had sensed was following them.
