Skellington snorted, sighing deeply. He didn't have the patience nor the time for this stand off, he was already running late for his very important date. He had to get going, but there was a horrible stand off that was occurring between him and his opponent. He was in a losing battle, even though he wouldn't admit it. He didn't lose, it was just one of those things his ego wouldn't let him. The voices groaned, sitting with their face in their hands and their eyes rolled. It was hot and miserable in here, and they really wished they could close the blinds, but of course...Skellington Jack a lot of times had his own agenda. And currently, that was trying to have a stare down with a cactus. He stomped a hoof and narrowed his gaze, sticking his lower jaw out slightly as if he was trying to size up his opponent further. "I will win this. You will see." He said to the cactus tree, flicking his tail as a bug landed on his rump. But still, his opponent did not give him any type of response, or for that matter do anything at all except be there, existing. The voices couldn't help but roll there eyes...except of course for poor Barrel, who was still cheering Skellington Jack on, telling him he could win this fight. "What, giving me the silent treatment, eh? Well! I never!" He stomped a hoof, and still keeping his gaze upon the cactus raised his head up in mock disgust, snorting at the cactus. It continued to do nothing but exist, and gave him no response. And so in this stand off they stood for a little while longer, the voices beginning to bicker in his mind at the stupidity of the whole thing and how he should just let it go, which of course only fueled his desire to continue the battle. And then it happened. IT HAPPENED. You see, a small lizard came running between the spines of the cactus, around and around the beautiful thing, paying little attention to the game. Skellington, seeing its movements, moved his muzzle toward the cactus-just far enough away to where he would not prick himself against it, and as the little lizard ran under him, he snorted at it. Of course, it traumatized the poor little lizard, who froze immediately. Skellington at this point pulled his head back, and his eyes still glaring at the cactus, stuck his tongue out at the lizard. The lizard, did the same...slapping its tongue into its eyeball, and then, quite nonchalantly, blinked his eyes, gave one last look at the strange painted creature, and ran away. "HA! I TOLD YOU I WOULD WIN!" Skellington gave a whooping yell, not to the cactus, but to the voices in his head, his gaze turned upward and eyes slightly rolled back. He blinked finally, and turned away from the cactus making sure to slap it with his tail as he did so. He snorted, and stomped his hoof again. "Now, what was it I was about to do before all this began?" He paused a moment, scrunching up his muzzle in thought, ears flicking slightly. Tossing his head, he grinned. "Ah yes. That." He was not keen on them asking him questions about his battle with the evil cactus, and so he trotted a little ways away with it, before trumpeting a call. "Come one, come all, the circus is in town! It's time to get ourselves ready to give them a performance they'll likely never forget!" He giggled; it had been his best thought yet.

Grim had been resting in the shade of a stranded tree. One of the few shaded spots that she'd found which were nearby. It may not have been time to give birth yet, but by god did it certainly look like it. By now Grim knew shew as carrying twins and good lord were they becoming a nuisance... She was twice the size she was used to when carrying a foal because of carrying twins. It made almost everything she did uncomfortable. Not to mention being in hot sun of the desert with a completely black coat.. well it tended to make finding water quite enjoyable to lay in before finding shade to cool out under.
Groaning as she pulled herself to stand, Grim huffed in agitation, flicking her tail before nipping at her side as she felt the twin's move around, trying to get comfortable it seemed. God she couldn't wait until the two little hellians would be ready to come out into the new world. Plodding along, her head held low in a tired fashion, Grim made her way in the direction of where she'd heard her Skellington's call. Huffing again she continued to plod along, barely dragging herself through the sand. When had carrying children gotten to be so much work?
"I've heard your call, Dear Jack... what has been on your mind?"
Grim raised her head up more as she got closer to Jack, flicking her tail again before nipping at an inch on her leg that seemed to persist for a few moments before going away, damn flies and their biting..

Lunatic lazily flicked her tail, grinning as she watched her now yearling filly staring at a leopard gecko in the warm sand. it almost seemed like the filly was speaking to it. The filly seemed to go into a trance, with a frustrated look across her face, almost like she was arguing with herself. Lunatic had always wondered if she heard voices like her father does, but she feared to ask. However, she loved her filly all the same. Sane or insane, she was perfect.
The mare turned her head, focusing her good eye on her lover in the distance. He too seemed to be in his own little world, staring down a cactus. She giggled and returned her attention back to Cactus, the lizard gecko she had been staring at had crawled up her leg and was now happily perched on her withers, an almost smug look on it's face, Cactus looking just as pleased. Both mare and filly turned their heads with ears perked, at the sound of Jack's voice booming out across the sands, calling everyone back to him. With a quiet nicker to her filly, she began to trot in the direction of her lover, Cactus and her new found friend trailing behind her.
As they came closer to him and the other mare, they slowed their pace, a curious expression across both of their faces, wondering what he had called them for. Lunatic glanced at Grim, feeling sorry for her. She could tell she was uncomfortable. She returned her attention back to Jack, eagerly awaiting for him to speak once more, while Cactus stood behind them, lost in her own little world with her gecko.

"Jack, Jack, no the monkey's name is Jack I am Skellington Jack." He said, with a glint in his eye as if his statement was supposed to make perfect sense to everyone around him. There was never a monkey, not in this climate...though there was a monkey long ago that he knew in the circus that was indeed named Jack. Whether or not Jack was still alive or not, well, that was up to the cosmos cause Skellington did not even remember the monkey past its name, and that it was from his past. He giggled as the voices rolled their eyes and put their little hands on their hips as if about to scold him, but he just pranced in place and tossed his head, making them roll around and be thrown off balance. Ah, the nature of his empty skull with tiny rooms with nothing in them. Since first it was Grim who approached, he approached her first, giving her a light whicker before nudging her shoulder. He eyed her stomach but said nothing of its immense girth, wondering what possibly was growing in there that had gotten her quite that bloated. Eyeing the approach of Lunatic and Cactus Blossom, he beamed widely and bounded toward his daughter, noting the gecko on her shoulder blades. He gave a grin. "I believe your cousin, dear gecko, just let me win a staring contest. I expect a rematch." He snorted at it, before nipping lightly at the fillies forelock and giving a nudge to Lunatic, before turning to look at everyone once more, and address them. He was, however, for the first time in a long time in a regular strange predicament...as he had forgotten what he was going to say, and therefore had nothing to say. And so, in lieu of standing their looking like an idiot, he decided rather to go back to what Grim had said in the beginning. "Well, now isn't that a bit of a funny phrase. Something on my mind? Well, I mean, something can't be on my mind since the mind is a strange thing that doesn't really exist on the physical plane....No no, it's how we get phrases like out of my mind and lost my mind, because really, what was the mind to begin with? Nothing can be on it really since it doesn't exist...not like a cat can lay on one's chest and make them feel like they're having a heart attack...so no, nothing's on my mind...What about you all?"

Cactus giggled as her father spoke to her little friend, whom she had decided to call Steve. Steve seemed fitting for the little dude. The filly snorted and shook her head after he father nibbled at her forelock, causing Steve to almost lose his grip and go flying. "Steve told me that he would speak to his dearest cousin about a possible rematch for you." The filly spoke before he had moved on to acknowledge her mother. Cactus rolled her eyes as her parents exchanged gentle nuzzles. God, adults could be so gross. With a stomp of her hoof, the filly turned and walked away, hoping to avoid any more gross affection.
Lunatic smiled at their exchange, and her filly's obvious disgust for affection. Perhaps as she ages, her demeanor may change. The mare quietly nickered to her stallion, enjoying his touch, something she had missed greatly. But before she could return it, he had already walked away. A quiet, disappointed sigh left the before turning her attention back to the stallion, a puzzled look across his face. What could he be possibly thinking of now?
She titled her head, listening to his silly rant. His thought process what so perplexing, but she loved it.lunatic giggled quietly, before shaking her head. "Oh darling, how silly you are.. I, myself, have nothing on my mind at this current moment. Well, I suppose I'm wondering when poor Grim is going to pop.. she seems to be due any day. Perhaps Cactus will finally have some company?" The mare turned her head so she could look at the mare with her good eye as she spoke, feeling bad for her. Then again, she did seem to miss being like that. It was an interesting thing, having another life grow inside yourself. Maybe one day, she'd get to feel it once more. But for now, she most definitely had her hands full with Cactus.

The mare's hooves dug into the sand as she tried to make her way to her new home. Much like Grim, Marionette was pregnant with Jack's twin foals. Her stomach bulged to each side and seemed to sway with her slow walk. Long, untamed black locks flowed in the light desert wind, which seemed to be the only thing to keep the poor mare from suffering a severe heat exaustion.
As she started to arrive, she couldn't help but feel really late, after all there were already two mares within the distance. "I'm coming my painted knight." She snorted as she finally arrived, hooves sinking into the sand once more as she stood.

Grim looked at the others as she shifted uncomfortably again, sighing at the two bodies shifting around inside of her, causing one to kick a little too hard and her ears to pin as she nipped at her side before shifting her tired feet again. "Hopefully I can have the twins out of me soon... It shouldn't be too much longer now, I can feel it..." Her ears flicked to Jack as she continued to listen to everything around her. "I'm sure Cactus would enjoy some company as well. It's been how long?" Grim had been a mother at least once before and deep down inside her, she knew these two foals would probably be the last time she wanted to ever had foals... Til had been an easy birth really, but these two... oh was karma biting her in the ass now with the twins... they seemed to get their personality form her... or at least from their restless forms that's how it felt. Just so long as they come out healthy was all she could really worry about though. That and when they would damn well come out, they were quite heavy.

Skellington could not help but grin at his precious little daughter's response about the rematch. He was glad to see her making friends with things other than ponies, and not just with plants or things as some of his children had done. He did not have any intention of letting her be as tormented as some of his children had been, nor did he want the world to torment her so. The voices in his head all agreed to make it so, because his little Cactus Blossom was the light of the desert right now and his little princess. Whether or not any of them were his true lead mare, that remained to be seen. But, Cactus Blossom was his first born child, from his beloved little Lunatic, and he would be damned if anything ill ever became of his little Cactus Blossom. He squealed in delight as he nuzzled each of them again, before seeing his beloved damsel in distress upon the crest. A head toss, a rear, flipping his mane as if brandishing his mighty sword of a horn on the top of his head. (Of course, there was nothing there, but he could pretend, right? It was enough to make Shock swoon so he must have been doing something right.) And he pranced over to where his lovely Marionette was standing, looking over them all. He pressed his muzzle into the nape of his neck and then moved on down, nudging her belly. "My my my, I'm so sorry my love I seem to have left you as fat as Grim." He nipped her playfully on the rump before turning and bumping her in the rump to move a little closer. "My dears, I present to you my lovely damsel in distress." He pranced away from his precious princesses, toward the only actual princess that he had, nipping the foal on the rump. "Little prickle, shall we let the mommy's talk and us play a little game of sorts?"

Lunatic turned her body to better face Grim, listening to her as she spoke. "Twins? Oh my.. you must be so ready for them to be out. And it has been quite some time since Cactus has had some company closer to her age. Perhaps it will be good for her. I do worry about her sometimes." The mare glanced at her daughter as she spoke, watching her interact with her new found scaly friend. There was something odd about her, but Linatic loved her all the same. Jack's little show snapped her out of her trance, and the mare focused her attention to another heavily pregnant mare that made her way into the territory. Lunatic nodded a greeting to the mare and smiled, happy to have some more company.
Cactus glanced at the new mare before focusing back on Steve, who had managed to find a small insect to munch on. The filly had never really only cared for much company, aside from her father's. He seemed to understand her silly little quirks, and never once questioned them. Not that she hated her mother, as she always stood by and supported her. But her father just seemed to really understand her odd little ways. Oh, and he seemed to really like Steve. A definite plus. And what could she possibly do with all these babies around? So many lessons she would have to teach, so much responsibility. Oh my.
Cactus squealed in surprise when he nipped her, a giggle escaping her lips as she spun to greet him, poor Steve clinging to her short locks with the sudden movement. "Oh hi daddy! I'd love to play a game! What shall we play? Mom talks are soooo boring." The filly smiled before playfully bumping her small muzzle against his, before taking a few steps back, giddiness flowing through her veins.

As Skelly gave Marion a little nip she turned and pulled a lock of his tail as he turned to his daughter. She took a few steps closer to the other pregnant mare and gently brushed her neck with her nose, as a comforting notion to show she knew her pain. They both had to be due at any moment. "I understand you pain, any moment now right?" She nickered sweetly. At the mention of twins her head raised and ears flicked forward. "My painted knight has a knack for creating twins." She snorted once as a laugh before turning to look at the young filly pounce and prance around with the little scaly friend. "Our little mismatch herd is growing." Her head dipped down to relieve the shooting back pains.

Grim huffed slightly as she continued to shift her weight from one side to another, finding the little ones a bit more restless than earlier. Part of her was egging her to go find a secluded place to safely deliver these little Hellions into the world... but then again another part of her was just mostly too tired to move right now. Normally Grim didn't like to be touched by anyone but Skelly, yet when Marion touched her muzzle to Grim's neck, the older Black mare just stayed still, not quite caring. Feeling another sharp kick in her stomach she couldn't help but grumble slightly.
"I'll return shortly.." She lovingly looked towards Skellington before plodding off to find not only a thing of shade but to find somewhere away from the herd to do something she'd only done once before. Bring Hellion's into the world. She could feel the shifting and the creeping of the Birthing process starting to 'sneak' up on her.
It had taken some time, but Grim finally found a spot she liked and relieved the pressure on her feet by finally laying down, breathing heavily as she shifted onto her side, groaning as the beginning stages of the births started. Time seemed to stop and stand still with each labored push and contraction Grim dealt with alone.
What felt like ages passed as one of the two bundles came out, Grim could hear the movement, thought not much time was given to catch her breath before her other little one was trying to break into the world. No more than twenty or so minutes passed once the birthing process started. Forcing herself up slightly, Grim slowly rose up to her feet, wanting nothing more than to lay down and take a rest. However the mare knew she needed to give attention to her foals and make sure that both of them were okay. Licking along both of them as she worked to get them up and alert.
A little black overo colt's eyes opened as he felt his mother's tongue licking over his face. Nickering softly he seemed to sit up, looking around. He was just ever so slightly than the filly his mother was now licking and giving the same attention to. His ears flicked around as he blinked, trying to get used to this new bright world that was suddenly in his face.

Skellington couldn't help but be overjoyed that all the mares seemed to be getting along so nicely, even Grim which he knew was not pleased by other mares. The voices were excited as well, and so were silent as they watched the proceedings. They wrung their hands as they watched, not sure what all was going to happen-waiting for something, anything. Skellington's attention quickly returned to his little desert princess. "Oh? A game a game...why there's so many games...hmmm...the name of the game is..." He hummed a moment in thought, glancing at his forehead for any sort of help they might be able to give. Barrel of course was quick to suggest something stupid, a game of seeing how many quills you could stick in your eye. Even the Leper Elf looked at him as if he was quite crazy at this thought, and Jimeny ended up putting a bag over Barrel's head...they were out of barrels, as they had stored all the monkeys from the circus in them. It was Shock who beamed and shouted the idea, and Skellington found it delightful....and he reached out and nipped the filly lightly on the shoulder, his one ear flicking slightly as he giggled and darted away at a trot-not wanting to make it to impossible for her to catch him. "Tag!!!! You're it! Come get me! Hehehe!" He glanced over to the mares, aud flicking as he noticed Grim had left. Where...oh right. Not to worry, she would return shortly.
Fire already seemed to burn in the filly's eyes as she raised her head, reaching out and gnashing her teeth at her brother as she blinked with the bright light. She was blaming him for this strange new light that came blinding toward them. She glared to her mother, snorting as she nudged her-hungry. She was demanding they stop licking and hurry up with the feeding. Auds flicked as she then turned her attention to the ground, which seemed to raise slightly beneath her with her sigh. She snorted, glaring at it, not sure what it was or if it was her imagination. The land was too bright, she was not a comfortable temperature, this world seemed strange. She snorted again, auds flicking as she went to try and stand. She managed to get on her front feet before collapsing down again, but she was determined to stand before her brother, and so she tried again.

Lunatic grinned as she watched the filly play with her father, loving how bonded they had become. It wasn't long before the mare's began to wander about possible future foals. Her stomach fluttered at the thought. Shaking her head and coming back to reality, she watched as Grim wandered off, likely to go give birth. "I'm sure you're dying to get those two out too." She giggled as she glanced at the mare's protruding stomach.
Cactus watched her father intently, wondering what was going on in that silly head of his. Sensing that something was going to happen, Steve began to make his way down the filly's back before hopping off. She giggled and playfully telling him to stay, and he seemed to nod his head in agreement. Sometimes, the filly could swear he understood her, and even talked back to her. But she has yet been able to confirm it.
Cactus let out a surprised squeak and lurched sideways when he playfully nipped her, catching her off guard. "Hey! You come back here!" She giggled before taking off after him, her long legs carrying her easily over the warm sand. Quickly catching up to him, she nipped his rump and shot right, speeding up to a quick canter, putting a small distance between them. "Ha! Now you're it! Catch me if you can!" She called over her shoulder before spotting some cactuses. Deciding this was a fantastic hiding spot, she quickly darted behind them. She stood as still as possible, trying to hold back her laugh as she waited for him to come and find her.

Marionette bobbed her head, slightly worried about Grim as she left. She tilted her head, but returned her attention to Lunatic. "Any time." She cocked her hoof still trying to relieve the pain some more. She watched the foal and her painted knight bounce around happily. She couldn't wait her her two to do the same. "I can't wait."

Grim groaned slightly as she pulled herself up to her feet, her head lowered as she looked over both foals, going between the two as she licked them clean. Her black ears were flicking in different directions to keep alert of any sounds that might come near them. They weren't exactly close to the herd, but they were far away either. Noticing that her daughter was starting to try and stand, Grim nudged her slightly. "Keep trying, you'll get it soon enough."
Strife turned his head to look at his sister, giving her the strangest look as she gnashed her teeth at him. He could feel the heat as well and he wanted nothing more than to find the coolness of shade. He groaned as his mother came to lick him a bit more, feeling her nudge him as well to encourage him to stand up. Seeing his sister trying it, he worked in his own way of getting to his feet, trying his back legs first. He fell many a times and eventually got to the point where he was standing on all fours, wobbling, however trying to take his first step, he fell flat on his face, shaking his head and throwing sand off of himself. He grumbled before trying again, wanting to surpass his sister just as she was trying to surpass him.

The filly narrowed her eyes at her mother as she licked at her and tried to give her words of encouragement. She didn't need encouragement, she just needed to do it. On her own. She snorted and looked over to her brother, rolling her eyes at how stupid he looked with his butt up in the air. She scooted away in the sand a little, turning her back to the both of them...she was going to do this. On her own! Determined, she got her front legs up and forced her hind end up. She didn't care what her brother was doing yet, she had to get herself up first and then she could deal with his existence. The sand beneath her feet started to give way, but for some reason it seemed to harden and she kept her footing. She glanced down, her ears flicking back and forth. What had just happened beneath her feet? She wasn't sure-but having the hard surface beneath it made it far easier to keep her balance when the ground wasn't falling away from her. She snorted, turning her head to look at her brother. He was standing too. She grumbled, and with whatever was causing the ground to harden where she was standing, she willed it to stay that way, and turned. The turn was a horrible idea and it forced her off balance, causing her to fall sideways and over. She growled and scrambled to her feet again, snorting in her brother's direction. As she reached out to take her first step, the sands underneath her shifted slightly. She didn't know why, but the ground seemed to then harden and shift slightly to where she caught herself. She looked to her brother defiantly and reached out to nip at him.
Skellington snorted, his one ear flicking back so he could hear the filly approaching him-but he reacted to slowly and she caught up to him. He giggled and pranced in place, watching as she darted away from him a moment. He just stood a moment, starring over the sea of sands that was his home. His gaze turned from the filly to the mares, and a smirk spread across his face. Well, they might as well while they wait for Grim to return....right? With another gleeful giggle, Skellington tossed his head and tossed his head before moving slowly toward the mares. If they had been paying attention to him and Cactus, then they perhaps might know what they were up to...but if not they would be completely surprised by his next act. As he approached, he came up behind Marionette and nipped her lightly. "You're it!" He squealed with delight, glancing to Lunatic as he galloped away with a giggle toward the direction Cactus had gone.

Cactus peaked out from behind one of the cacti, being mindful of their needles. She giggled as she watched her father sneak up behind one of the mares and gave her a playful nip and taking off. The yearling began to prance in place, eager to play, but unwilling to give up her hiding place so soon. Noticing slight movement in the corner of her eye, she paused her movements to look closer. Steve hass mangled to make his way over to her little hiding spot. "Steve! You're going to give me away!" The filly playfully chided him, reaching down to let the small lizard crawl back up to his little perch on her poll. Focusing her attention back on the herd below, she noticed her mother beginning to take play in the silly little game, following after her father to her hiding spot.
Lunatic watched her lover frolic and play around, adoring his happy nature. Noticing that Cactus had seemed to disappear, a small feeling of worry came over the mare. The filly always had a knack for wandering off, however she always managed to find her way back. Her attention to the filly changed when her lover ran past, his look telling her to follow. A wide grin spread across her face, instantly realizing why he was headed towards the small bunch of cacti. Tossing her head, the mare took off at a steady canter after him, trying to surpress the giggle that threatened to bubble Out of her lips.
Once she caught up to him, she playfully nipped at his shoulder, happy to join in on the fun.
Ooc: sorry this took so long guys

I won't cry for you, see When you're gone I'll still be bloody Mary t Skelly's nip, she flinched, surprised by the motion at first then a nicker rang through her lips. A little slow from all the extra weight around her midsection, she trotted along with her Painted Knight and Lunatic, nickering all the way. She finally caught up to them, she lurked around the cactus to find, well cactus, nipping gently at her yearling short mane she chuckled. "You're it now Cactus." She said, trotting back behind her Painted Knight, pretending to hide behind him from Cactus, knowing damn well she didn't. | β | It's kinda pathetic but it's a post. Right? |

Grim was silent as she watched both of her children, keeping near the shade since her all dark pelt tended to over heat quickly. She raised her muzzle to the air, almsot as if she was seeking out the scent of water, knowing she would need some soon before heading back to Skellington and the rest of the herd. Turning to look back at her children, the older mare yawned, quite tired from giving birth to both of her foals. She did notice something different about the ground under her daughter's hooves but it was just a quick glimpse and so she wasn't completely sure what she had seen. When she noticed her daughter nipping out at her son, the black mare pinned her ears and lightly nipped her daughter. "Behave, both of you. It's too hot out today for starting antics this early. Now hurry up so we can get some relief from this heat."
Strife continued to try and stand up, falling down once more when he tried to jump out of the way of his sister nipping at him, seeing his mother correct her, the young colt couldn't help but fall over again laughing before stopping the moment his agitated mother turned her attention to him, he was quiet as he tried to stand once more, a bit wobbly but it seemed he'd finally gotten it. Waiting for himself to stop shaking before standing a bit taller, looking quite proud of himself before carefully taking steps towards his mother so he could get some milk, keeping an eye on his sister as he seemed to quickly grab a drink.

It had been a long journey for the mother and son pair. They had traveled a long distance and in such a short time, and they had seen so much. Ambrosia had been able to bring Donatello to her home herd lands and from there, traveled across the mountains to her favorite place in the world, the sea. They had stayed there for a while, finding shelter from predators and the elements in a tiny deserted cove. And for a while, they were happy. However, it became clear to both that they had left someone very important behind. For Ambrosia, it was Skelly, someone she hadn't quiet expected to miss as much as she did. For Donnie, it was his twin brother, Mikey. However, it wasn't until Ambrosia woke up in the middle of the night to Donnie's quiet sobs that she realize the damage she had inflicted by separating her boys, and she decided that moment that they would begin their journey back to Skelly.
It took Ro and Donnie about 2.5 months to find Skelly. They worked tirelessly day after day to cover ground, finding themselves in incredibly difficult terrain. Often times, Ro would go hungry, wanting to make sure Donnie had enough to eat in some of the harsher lands. Donatello did his best not to complain, despite the fact that he was always hungry, tired, and aching, even after a full night's rest, because it only further distressed his mother and remind her of the mistakes she had made. Despite the difficult journey, though, Ambrosia, and especially Donatello, thrived and grew strong. Despite still having the gangly, leggy look of a yearling, his muscles were taunt underneath his two-toned coat, and each day, the pair seemed to travel further and further distances.
Just when Donatello had just about given up hope, growing desolate about never being able to see his baby brother again, Ambrosia stopped dead in her tracks, ears flickering every so slightly. It took a moment, but Donatello soon heard it too: the unmistakable cry of his father. He hadn't know Skellington Jack for very long, having left the heard with Ambrosia at only 8 months of age, but it was a voice that was unmistakable. Donnie was always a little wary of him, sensing the insanity that lived inside him, and that hadn't changed in the 6 months since he had been home. But Ambrosia, who had always been blind to Skelly's quirks and instead only saw his good, nurturing heart, perked up immediately. Tired, but with a renewed sense of determination, Ro told Donnie, Come on my son. I know you are tired, but we are so close. Just a little bit further. Donnie just nodded, then followed his mother.
Before long, Skelly became more than just a sound. In the distance, the black and white stallion was easily spotted, although the hazy heat rising from the ground distorted his image. Surrounding him were several mares and a single foal. As they walked, Donnie told his mother, The herd has grown in our absence. Absent-mindedly, Ro responded, As it should. It was very clear to Donatello that his mother was not in the slightest concerned about the other mares, just about reuniting with his king. Donatello was not as easily distracted. For all they knew, after they had left, Skelly had turn the herd on them for leaving, and they were quite possibly walking into a trap. Donatello knew better than to mention this to his mother, but instead, kept a keen ear out for danger and looked around the herd land for a way they could escape, if needed.
The distance between mom and son and the rest of the herd was closed quickly, thanks to Ro's renewed enthusiasm. Ambrosia had eyes only for Skelly, ignoring the other mares for now, and murmured softly, I heard your call my king, and came back to you. Meanwhile, Donnie stood at her shoulder, legs braced and muscles taunt, ready to sprint if needed to.
