Love. It was probably one of the weirdest concepts in all of emotion; having this strange elated feeling whenever you're around someone that could slowly drive you mad. He'd dealt with it before, but not quite so passionately, not so all consuming like he felt with Anahel. It wasn't her beauty, it was her strength and attitude that drew him in. Perhaps before he had been shallow and consumed by lust and did not see such things...but he had never intended to fall so completely for Anahel. He worried though, whenever she would have to leave him, that she would not return. There was a side he saw around her that he didn't think the rest of the world ever saw, the vulnerable side, and from what he could tell she was so unused to feeling like that anymore that she was...afraid? No, that wasn't quite the word for it. He shook his head, his hair flopping against his shoulder once more. They'd taken up residence in one of the old huts in the forgotten tribe lands, and Harlan had done the best he could to fix it up and make it a livable area; but it still was no mansion. He wanted nothing more than to be able to go into town with Anahel, but he knew that was out of the question. He would be seen, she would be run out of town...and he didn't want that for her. Whatever fleeting feeling she might have for him, he didn't want her to be cast out with him. He wanted her to be able to return to life as normal, if she ever desired. He sighed heavily, and moved to stare out the open door area of the mud hut. It really was barely big enough for him and Anahel to sleep in, but they had most of the whole area to store anything else in. And so he waited, tail flicking against his hindquarters as he waited for her to return, praying she would. RileyCasper

Anahel's fingers grasped at Laylah's mane, the mare loved the feeling of her master's strong hands tangled in the black locks. Angel noticed most of the humans on the island made their horses wear these heavy ugly leather things, but Angel preferred to feel the mare's black fur and heavy muscles between her legs. The mare galloped off toward what the humans referred to as the forgotten tribe, Laylah knew where the half human half stallion would be and Anahel trusted her beloved mare.[break][break]
She longed to see him again, every time they were apart she wanted him back, to feel the touch of his strong hands, allowing her strong walls to falter. Sometimes you needed to just be a weak human once in a while. Laylah slowed to a trot upon reaching the place they called home away from the town. Once in front of the small mud hut she'd returned to multiple times before she slid from Laylah's back, the dried crunched beneath her boots. She had no intention on removing her boots though, that was Ares's job. She wore a brown corset with a tight black shirt and thin jeans. She knew soon she'd have to get a new pair but until these were worn and ragged she'd wear them out.[break][break]
She didn't speak just stood there, leaning back into Laylah's side with a smile. "Ares." She said through parted lips.

Ares had been...tidying things up a bit, trying to keep his mind off of the unlikely possibilities of her never returning. He wouldn't blame her though. It was hard living with him, he'd known that for a long time. It was also hard to tidy up something made of mud, that had a dirt floor. But it was cozy, and he'd come to enjoy it. With a human contact now, he was able to enjoy the finer things in life-cooked meals, wines and liquors of all variety, and whatever else there was in this world that he had mostly forgotten about. At the sound of hooves he froze; but the whinny was familiar. His darling Laylah carrying his majestic Anahel. He peered around the corner of the building, grinning as he saw her. There she was, in all of her strength and glory, calling to him as if she herself was nothing. He of course knew better. As he raced toward her at a canter and extended his arms toward her, he scooped her up off the ground like she was nothing but a feather, twisting and plopping her onto his back. "My strong Angel, I was beginning to wonder if you hadn't been caught in another fight." They had yet to spar, which was something he'd eventually change, but right now he just enjoyed her company. He nickered to Laylah, asking if she'd like to go for a run with them, before taking off at a full gallop. He didn't wait for Anahel to comply, he knew she wouldn't mind the feeling of a race. His body was different than Laylah's; and yet they were almost equally matched in speed...Harlan was a bit old and out of shape.

Angel's lips curled up in a smile, it was beyond words how much it could light up her dreary appearance. As Ares lifted her and placed her on his back, she moved her legs so instead of sitting side saddle she sat normally. Her arms curled over his broad shoulders. She didn't speak yet, but merely rested her cheek against his back. She took a deep breath in and let it escape in a sigh before she finally spoke. "No battles recently. I was hoping to find one, I'm getting mighty bored. But I haven't ran across that flame-bereing demon, nor any other mutant recently. Human's are so fickle and their word fights bore me." She said against his back. The urge to fight burning her veins. [break][break]
Laylah nickered back and kept up with Ares at his gallop, tossing her head back and squeeling loudly. Their last encounter his seed hadn't taken and it made her sad but eventually it would.

Harlan fought back the urge to encourage her fighting. Pride, of some sort, welled up in him though-stories his mother and father had told of the ancient Amazon's and Xena rang in his ears; and here was his own modern day warrior princess. Nothing in this world would ever make him give that up. He wondered sometimes if she missed being able to go out in the city though, if she missed being able to go wherever and have bar fights. He realized then, as they galloped along, that they really didn't know much about each other. He knew her intimately...but her body, not her soul or her mind. He glanced to Laylah and smiled; she was a simple horse but she had a way about her that made her perfect for Anahel...but then, he didn't even know how they had met. How they had become one, horse and rider. Fear crept into him...was he a passing fad for Anahel? She seemed so keen on the fire demon...when she found him again, if he had gotten stronger...would she leave him for the flames? He let out a scream and came sliding to a halt, rearing up on his back legs. He knew it probably wouldn't unsettle her too much; she'd been through much worse before with him. But the anger inside of him was building up beyond what he could control. He swiveled around as best she could, fire in his eyes from adrenaline; fear of her leaving-whatever it was there was some unseen power behind it. He grabbed her by the shoulder and pulled her off the side of him, throwing her to the ground like a leaf blown by the wind. He huffed as he looked down upon her, raising his hoof and tenderly, though enough to keep the pressure, placing it against collarbones. Just enough weight so that she wasn't able to move much, even with her super human strength, but not enough to do any real damage to her. "What, am I not good enough to spar with? Is my fire not enough for you you have to go run off to find some low life demon?" He lowered his face to within inches of her, a mixture of emotion in his eyes. Had he been blinded this whole time by his infatuation with her?

She was relaxed on his horse back, her arms curled around his shoulders holding herself to him as they galloped along. He wasn't anything like Laylah but something about his presence relaxed her. [break][break]
Although as Ares slid to a halt, she face-planted his back, her eyes crossing at the sudden impact of her nose against his shoulder blades, but the ability to process didn't last long as he pulled her from his back and threw her to the ground. She made a umph sound upon the impact with the ground and a groan escaped her parted lips. Her eyes were closed most of this time, completely unprepared for battle. It's like when she was around her Ares, she could let her castle walls down.[break][break]
As his hoof pressed against her collarbone she moved both hands to grasp at his leg. It didn't hurt, but it left her confused. As he spoke his tone was different than normal, but the roughness left a fire burning inside. "I never would dream of fighting with you. You are my beloved, not some creature or enemy to fight." As he lowered toward her, she couldn't read the emotion in his eyes. It wasn't familiar to her. She pushed against his leg to get it off, but not hard enough to actually move it. She liked to be pinned to the ground. Even though the circumstances of this position she was in, a purr moved through her throat. His possessiveness making her body sing for him. [break][break]
Laylah slid to a halt as well near Anahel's head, ready to protect her rider if Ares got to rough. The immortal mare could still remember meeting Anahel, but she wasn't sure if her rider could remember. Angel happened to stumble across her when she was being sacrificed in the forest to awaken a demon, which when Anahel interrupted the ritual she had passed out and awoken as this immortal, not able to die like a normal horse. An angel had rescued her.

A growl escaped him as he looked down upon her prone from laying there. He could see that fire in her eyes, that all consuming fire of lust; was that what their relationship was built off of? Because he could give her something that no one before had been able to? He peeled his hoof away from her as his power over her was beginning to cloud his judgement and he too felt it. He stood, not looking at her for a moment as he tried to calm his body once more. "There is more to fighting than shedding blood. You are no more a fighter than you are an innocent school girl if you think fighting is all about the conquer." Tears threatened in his eyes as he was thrown into his past. His thirst for conquest, his thirst for blood that led him to lose his entire family. His rampage. His father had taught him better than that, and yet he had run off like a fool and done exactly that which his father had told him not to. He turned and looked to Anahel a moment, looking at her still on the ground. If he had horse ears, he would have pinned them. Instead, his lips curled back in a disgruntled grimace, looking at her with disdain. "I thought there was more to you than all of that. I thought you were different." He turned away from her for a moment then, feeling his heart breaking in his chest as he did so. What was wrong with him? Was he so jealous of her demon toy that he would turn his back on her and refuse her now? Was he so blinded by his own emotional neglect that he would ruin the best thing he'd ever had? He turned to her, a fire in his eyes. "If you won't fight with me, then you will fight with no one. I am as good a fighter as any, and we both have a thirst for blood. How dare you threaten a fight with a fire demon, but ignore the very person you so claim to love. Like a witch, you lie then."
