Devon didn't know what the hell she was doing with the mare. She had raised Prince from a baby, he was used to humans. This mare either wasn't used to humans, or just plain hated them. She didn't know the first real thing about training. But, she knew the mare needed someone, and she knew that the mare seemed to have picked her. And Devon, as tough an exterior as she had, wasn't about to let anyone down, even a horse. The horse needed something, someone to hold onto and trust, and she'd been the chosen one. Well, it must have been Devon's unlucky day, because technically she had just stolen a horse. Luckily by the time she got back to the barns, it was dark. Because of the bitter cold of the nights in Washington, not many people were milling around. Just so long as she didn't run into any of the managers, she'd end up being okay. She gulped as she parked the trailer outside the barns. She was going to have a long way to walk the mare down to Prince's paddock-Prince would be inside right now anyway. The mare would fade into the darkness, and it would be okay...right? As Devon hoped out of the truck, she thought she had a plan. But as she hummed gently, making sure that the mare realized she was there, she lost her resolve. What if the mare thought Devon was abandoning her? What if the mare couldn't be recaught? What if she got lonely? Devon sighed heavily. She couldn't risk bringing the mare into the barn and there be someone in there finishing up with her horses. Sighing lightly, she thought of the next best thing-and left the trailer door closed before rushing into the barn toward Prince's stall. "You're going to have a girlfriend now, honey."Her voice was soft to the stallion. She didn't know how the mare would treat him, and she felt like she would be sending him to the wolves turning her out with him, but for now, it was the only plan she had. Prince trusted her. Prince loved her, and maybe the mare would pick up on how Devon loved Prince. Hopefully, she'd be nice to him; no matter how big of a doofus he was. She hurried him outside, trotting down the pathway to his paddock and letting him loose, leaving his halter on him. He squealed in delight, excited by the quickened pace and took off sprinting around the paddock, none the wiser. She trotted back up the path to the trailer, calling softly. "Hey angel, it's okay baby. I'm right here, I'm getting you out."She smiled weakly at her own words, hoping they were soothing enough for the mare. She unlatched the trailer door, looking in on the horses. The others seemed to be sleeping, which was good. They'd be okay for the extra five minutes it took her to lead the mare down to Prince's paddock. OOC: You can go ahead and play up until getting to the paddock, all Devon is gonna do is talk softly and lead her down to the paddock and take her halter off of her once she's in.

The mare was more than eager to get out. As she moved her hooves around in the trailer, the straw beneath her feet scorched and burned but not once did it start a blaze in the trailer. As Devon cood at Exor, she calmed a bit, happy to have the human nearby. She nickered softly as she was lead down the aisle of the stable. As they emerged again out into the dark night, she began to feel slightly anxious. As her anxiety grew, her hooves began to leave hoof shaped scorch marks along the path. The tip of her tail started to flicker like a candle. As Devon released her into the paddock with the stallion, she eyed him, then turned to face Devon again. Exor moved her head over Devon's shoulder and placed her neck against her head pulling the human closer to her. After she broke the embrace, she turned back to the stallion and watched him with a fire burning in her eyes, as if to say, "This is my human, stay away!" And the blazing eyes never once left the stallion as she walked over to the water trough and placed her lips against the water to cool her anxious flames.

A sharp squeal erupted from the stallion as all he could see was his beloved bonded human being engulfed in flames by the nightmare. His nares flared as the smell of the scorched earth beneath her feet reached them, and his ears flicked back as he bared his teeth, aiming his horn right toward her, threatening her if she was to dare hurt his human...Though what she did next surprised him, and what Devon did next surprised him even more. The black mare did not attack his human, or anything of the short, but instead pulled her into a hug of sorts...like he himself had done multiple times to show that she was his to someone who might otherwise question it. His ears flicked forward, and he nickered in confusion to Devon. Devon giggled as she was pulled up against the fence by the mare, and rubbed on her nose gently before she moved away...as if they were friends. He watched the mare as she made her way to the trough, wondering if she had even noticed his magical orientation. As she went for a drink though, he moved toward Devon and tore his gaze away from the mare as he did so. She was of no concern to him. He reached Devon in a matter of moments, and reached out his muzzle-snorting in her hair as he drew in her scent. It seemed she had not been hurt. A breeze picked up, causing the gravel in the path and the dirt to tumble away, obscuring any of the scorch marks that the mare had left behind.
Devon smiled to Prince, reaching her hand out to him, a sugar cube in her hand. He nickered and lipped it up, reaching up and nuzzling her cheek. Her hands slid up the side of his neck, her fingers tangling into his mane, and she leaned her head against the side of his neck as she watched the mare at the trough. "Please be nice to each other. I don't want either of you getting hurt." She said, worry starting to build in her. She had seen the look the mare had given Prince, and she'd seen the look Prince gave the mare. She didn't want them to fight over her...but she couldn't have left the mare there. With a gentle sigh, she slipped through the slats and into the field. Prince instantly draped his head over her shoulder, looking to the mare...his horn catching the moonlight and glinting like a sword in the night. Devon looked over to him, meeting his gentle gaze. "Can she see what you really are?" She mused, running her hand up his neck to the horn atop his head and rubbing at it gently, before turning her gaze back to the mare. She gulped, not knowing how the mare would react to seeing her with Prince, but knowing Prince would protect her.

As his sword drew, a lock of her mane flickered a bright orange before fading back to black. She could see the horn, she knew he was indeed a unicorn, but she honestly didn't care. She didn't think nothing of the stallion as he stood there by her human, just merely acknowledged his existence and what he was. She had a long day, a long trailer ride and all she was interested in right now was trying to make herself at home, in the paddock with the stallion. She lifted her head from the trough, and turned and lifted her hooves to the air and leaning back on her hind legs. She nickered happily to the two across the paddock. As her front hooves struck out a burst of fire puffed in the air but faded as her hooves landed back upon the ground. Once all four hooves were back on the ground, she moved toward the pair but stood about ten feet away and began to graze upon the green paddock grass.

Devon had a nearly 20 hour day tomorrow, as much as she wanted to stay here and be with the horses, she could not. It seemed that they would get along fine; the mare was not attacking the stallion and the stallion was leaving the mare alone for now. She gulped though, wondering if she shouldn't stay a little longer. Yes...yes she probably should. In fact... She ran her hand along Prince's neck as she drew in his scent, before dropping her hands and leaving the paddock. She could get some bags of sawdust and sleep under the stars outside their paddock tonight; that way she could hear something if it were to go awry. She walked back to the barn, yawning, glancing over her shoulder toward the pair. They were all she had now that that stupid boy had up and disappeared. She could trust no one else now, besides Prince and this mare. Though she didn't know the mare's full story, she knew that they needed each other right now. She stood by the barn door watching them, her back turned to the barn for the moment.
Prince nickered gently to Devon as she left, not sure where she was going or what she was planning. He knew she was tired, and he wished he could help her slightly more than he was. Sighing, he watched her leave, ears flicking before his attention turned to the flaming mare. As Devon faded into the night, he turned his full attention to the mare. His voice was soft as he approached with cautious steps. He was willing to share his human, as long as the mare promised not to ever hurt her. "She loves you already, I think." He spoke, standing about ten feet from her with his head held high and ears flicked toward her, wondering if the mare might bother responding even.

The mare was far more focused on her human friend than the stallion beside her. But as the girl walked away she turned to the stallion. "I know. She rescued me." She was very short with him. The moon light hit his horn and it shined, causing the tips of her mane to ignite but calmed instantly. "So what do you call yourself?" She kicked up her front right hoof, holding it up and straightening her neck to seem bigger than him.
Jules had just moved into town and had to put Amadeus in his respective paddock. His body was tired from his trip. The sliver stallion simply followed along with his tired master, only to look up at the two horses in the paddock beside the one his master was leading him to. Jules looked up at the two horses, well unicorn and nightmare and noted that he should keep Amade away from them. Jules looked up and a girl was standing by the barn. He gave her a wink and a tongue click before putting Ama in his paddock.

Devon was about to turn around and go into the barn when she heard the click of someone's tongue. She didn't see the wink, of course, as he was too far down the row. She worked here, at least...who the hell was this guy and why was he clicking his tongue at her like she was some kind of pack mule? She was tired. It had been a long day and all she wanted to do was go to bed, but she had to make sure this guy wasn't up to no good. Each of her steps were with purpose as she made her way toward the paddock where he had just turned his horse out. She looked to the horse, noticing that he didn't look familiar. It was possible this was a new border...at least he was bringing an extra horse and it wasn't that he was trying to steal it. "Who are you and what are you doing out here so late?" She demanded, her arms crossed as she stopped at the far end of the paddock, yelling over the fenceline. His face...his everything, nearly, reminded her of Blake and it made her heart wrench. It made her want to throw up right then and there. She approached more slowly, still keeping her arms crossed against him. She wanted to assess him. There was something about him that reminded her chillingly of Blake...and it made her whole body ache. She and Blake had never gotten to...test drive each other before he and his brothers had up and disappeared, never to be heard from by anyone at Firefly Falls again. Perhaps this guy could give her what he couldn't? But no...he'd just hurt her like the last one did. They were all the same, men. "I asked you a question sir, please don't make me call the police."
Prince looked to the nightmare, his ears flicking this way and that. He didn't want to cause a fight with her, as he knew he would not have the ability to win. He was merely protecting his girl and stating the facts. He wanted Devon to be happy; that was all that mattered. "I am Prince. She sometimes calls me Prince Charming. And what of you?' He asked, his voice calm as he glanced out toward the opposing paddock and saw Devon standing there talking to someone with her arms crossed. He could tell there was something not quite human about him, but he wasn't sure what.

Jules let Amade go and looked up to the girl, his green eyes glittered in the moon light. "To be fair, what are you doing out here so late, there's monsters out at this time of the night? I just got to the island." He said, giving the stallion a pat on the head and mimicked her arms crossing her chest, puffing his chest up beneath his arms. Exor arched her neck, lengths of hair turning to flame for seconds then returning to black. "They gave me the name The Exorcism. I know not of what it means though." She said, flicking her tail behind her. At least he knew he wasn't going to win in a fight with her. She was the dominant one right now, she was in charge. Ostrich

Prince knew that she was a mare who thought she had the upper hand; but what he lacked in fire power he made up for in height and, by the looks of it, brain. He was impressed that she had not yet lunged at him, but she did appear to feel superior to him. He was fine with that, it was whatever she felt most comfortable with. But hell hath no fury like a unicorn protecting his innocent maiden. He flicked his tail in response to her name, not sure of the origin either. "I would have thought they would give you a name like Firestarter, or something of the sort. I have no idea what that means either; though perhaps Devon does. Would you mind if I called you Firestarter? It seems more fitting, to me..." His voice trailed off, having no earthly idea what he was rambling about now, just making conversation. Peering over her, he checked on his owner and the strange male...if need be, he knew Exor would help him protect Devon.
Devon growled under her breath, her finger nails digging into the sleeves of her shirt. She wasn't about to let this punk try to talk down to her. "The only monster I see is you right now, buster. We have protocols for dropping your horse off, such as, it stays at the docks until morning. You are therefore trespassing on the place where I work, and therefore it's my problem. So either state your business, or I've got a fast finger to call the cops and you and your tight lips can loosen up in the holding cell for the night." She wasn't going to be patronized by some asshole who looked creepily similar to a man she had just been falling for not too long ago, who disappeared without a trace. Hopefully he drowned, after being raped by an angry bear. She cracked a smile at the thought; easing her for the moment. This man obviously wasn't whatshisname, given his attitude toward her. If it had been him just trying to play it off, there would at least be some recollection. Unless of course, he had amnesia. Either way, Devon wasn't giving this man-whoever he was-the benefit of seeing her jugular exposed. She'd treat him like the shit head she wanted to treat you know who like, even if it meant losing a client for the barn. One border wasn't going to kill their reputation. Besides; she was already probably going to get kicked out for the extra horse that she brought here without notice of any sort.

Her expression was flat, her neck still arched and her breath low. "No. Exor if you want something short." She moved another foot toward him, still sure she had the upper hand, still so sure she was in charge. She just wanted to smell him. She couldn't care too much for the interaction happening between her human and the... well not human, she couldn't place the smell. They were a safe distance from each other.
Jules continued to mimic her posture, repeating the nails digging into the sleeves which was more so his biceps. "You got that right about me being a monster." He paused, stumbling over his words. "Only reason I brought Amadeus here at night is because he'd much rather travel at night." He looked to the two horses, well not so much horses behind her. "Why would you put a unicorn and nightmare in the same paddock? I'm not sure why they aren't killing each other... but that's just not something you put together." He chuckled shaking his head. He knew what they were because he too was a mythical creature like them... well more like the midnight black nightmare and less like the unicorn.

Upon his words, she tensed. She was playing right into his hands, and she didn’t like the feeling of being exposed. Teeth clenched and so did her fists. Upon his words, she whirled around to look back at the paddock. She hated not knowing some of these things; she knew Prince was a unicorn, but she had no idea what Exor really was. She sighed though, seeing that they were both alright. Exor was appreciative of her, and she knew that she loved Prince as much as she loved her. She’d never hurt him unless he did something worth hurting him over, right? She turned back to the male. ”That’s what decent training and love will do. What means of monster are you that likes to travel in the night? A vampire?” She chuckled loosely, but also knew that in order for him to see Prince, he was something at least. Vampire was the first thing that came to mind because of his comment about the night.
Prince nodded, not have meaning to upset her. Perhaps, when they were friends, as his naive self thought of course they would be because they both loved Devon. They would have nicknames for each other. But perhaps she found it offensive. And so he frowned. He has not meant to offend. She moved closer though. And so he did not move, did not tense. He stood relaxed as she reached her muzzle out toward him. Naive. Yes. Perhaps a little too naive. But he trusted that she would not hurt him because of Devon. “I am sorry Exorcism, I did not mean to offend.”

Jules chuckled and the silver Akhal-Teke bumped his shoulder with his muzzle. "Well you got something right hunny." He pet the stallions nose before keeping transfixed on Devon, bearing his fangs. He had no intention of attacking her, or draining her dry, a taste would be fathomable, but not if she didn't let him first. At times he wished Mary would have never gave him this gift she did. "I would still keep an eye on that nightmare with that unicorn. Nightmares are untrustworthy. I raised some over in england when I owned a manor." He didn't move closer to Devon, just kept a conversation with her.
Exor stopped after she took in Prince's scent. He was so pure compared to her. They were exact opposites after all. "Understand this Unicorn, I can destroy you in a heartbeat, but we both have one common interest." She motioned toward Devon. She knew if she killed this stallion it would hurt her precious Devon. She drew in a second whiff of his scent, they were now feet from each other. "And perhaps of Devon likes you, we could get along." She moved to stand cross him, her rump near his chest and her chest near his rump, staring at this conversation that transpired in front of them. She drew defensive of Devon when the vampire beared it's fangs, her mane turning to flames again.

A glint could be seen in his eyes as the mare threatened again, a long dormant stallions sense of fighting, and being put to a challenge. His ears flicked, but as quickly as the glint was there he shook it away. He knew he was not some wild stallion; his dedication was only to Devon. He could see by this other horses action that she had never been shown compassion or trust, and perhaps it was due to what she was. He knew not of the breed, and so he would not show prejudice. Instead, he simply bowed his head to her. ”You will come to trust Devon and I. We are not here to make your life more miserable, Devon only wishes to show you the love you never had.Trust this though, if you ever hurt her-your threat will be meaningless.” His eyes followed the mares gaze as she tensed, looking once more to Devon. A sharp squeal escaped from his maw as he charged the fence to the males bared fangs. Here he was merely talking to a nightmare, while Devon was being visibly threatened. He stopped at the fence for a moment; he had never been very good at jumping-but he knew ramming through it would cause such a noise it would bring attention to the current stowaway in the paddock. He knew Devon could handle herself. He snorted though, pawing at the ground as he lowered his skull aiming his sword toward the male. If he touched Devon, he’d be a dead vampire.
Devon did not do much as flinch at his teeth being shown. At least this was a monster she knew legends of; at least this was a real monster she could get rid of. She rolled her eyes as he further commented on how she should watch her horses; at which point she heard the deafening squeal of Prince and smirked. ”You speak so wisely, yet truly know nothing. Just like a human male, always acting dominant. You know nothing of bonds, throwing your identity around like you’re the devil’s gift. Whether or not she is an untrustworthy breed, Exor loves and respects me, just as I do of her. I will not have a heathen speak ill of my horse just because he is being a breed-ist prick.” She rolled her eyes to the horse as he came to his owner, trying to butter him up. He was a pretty thing; the same build as Prince. She did not know what secrets he held. Perhaps him and his owner shared some sick bloodletting bond. To each his own, the horse seemed to like the man, so she would not judge. ”Unlike you, I have to work tomorrow. So are you going to tell me who you are, for real, so I can check the registers, or should I simply call the cops?”

His head cocked slightly to the side. "I'm not some breedist pig. Like I said, I raised them. Powerful, strong, but untrustworthy." He paused at the threat of the unicorn, but ignored it, and took long strides to close the distance between him and Devon. It was like he glided through the air. He offered his hand to Devon and leaned close to her. "I have no intention of sucking you or anyone on this island dry. My Mary did not create me for that." He said, dropping his hand when she did not take it to shake. "Jules. Jules Preston. Mr. Harrison met me earlier." He didn't move closer or away.
The nightmare joined the unicorn at the fence eager to protect her Devon, fences where nothing, and since this one was wood it would burn to a crisp beneath her. Flames started to rise from her hooves, anger burning as he got closer. She caught sight of the unicorn beside her, and got distracted, the flames diminished and she pressed toward Prince's body. Perhaps they could get along after all. Her tail flicked behind her, sweeping her scent toward him. What the hell was happening to her, why did now all she want to do was to have him mount her.

She tensed only slightly as he moved toward her, still holding his ground. She looked to his hand and did not take it; it was quite possible it was a trap and he would grab her to bite her. Humans, whether magical or otherwise, were untrustworthy. They were the ones who trained the horses to do bad. She rolled her eyes at his statement. Judging them all over again, just like people judged pit bulls. But as soon as he said the untrustworthy word again, regardless of what ever ease had been there...she raised her hand and slapped him straight across the face. "I said do not judge her. She has done nothing, and she is NOT the ones raised by you. She is not defined by your breed standards, she is her own being." Her hand stung with the feeling of it having hit his face, and she took a step away from him only then. "I don't give a shit when Preston met you, he didn't tell me you were coming this late, and that means you don't belong here right now." Then again, she wasn't supposed to be out here right now. Preston however was generally good about telling her and Olivia about when new borders were coming in. "Please come with me, sir, so that I can check the stable records." Her voice was perhaps a little less venomous now, but there was still an edge to it. She might as well do her job now. Taking a quick look back to the paddock to check on them one more time, she made her way toward the barn. If this man was here, she couldn't sleep out next to the paddock anymore. She also couldn't act like she had just put the horses out there, so they would have to fend for grass until morning struck because she couldn't get them hay. She frowned, turning then toward the barn and marching forward.
Prince gave a whinny as he saw her leaving, his ears flicking back and forth. He could sense her tension and the release of it, but there was nothing more he could do. As he saw the vampire step closer, he leaned more against the fence-ready to bust through it. A sense of comradory came over him when Exor came to his side, gulping as the new scent entangled him. His eyes grew wide, and he snorted, shaking his head of the ill effects it was playing on his brain. As he watched Devon head toward the barn, unharmed and of her own will, he looked toward the mare beside him. "What...what are you trying to do to me? I thought we had come to an understanding because of Devon, yet now it seems you are trying to play mind tricks with me?" He snorted, shaking his head again and starting to move to the other side of the paddock; unfamiliar with the way she was making his body tense in places.

As her hand striked his face it made him smirk, he didn't react like he had be slapped though. Moving quickly, as she turned toward the barn he grabbed her hand and held it firmly in his hand bringing it to his nose. He could smell the blood rush to it from the slap and his bit his lip with one fang.
Exor was just as confused as he was. "I don't understand whats going on here either." Her mind wanted two different things, she closed her eyes trying to calm herself. She side stepped slightly, turning away from the confrontation in front of them. She seemed to buckle in her own skin, confused. Exor swayed back and forth.
J's hand didn't drop Devon's he held it there, still taking in every smell. "That wasn't smart to do." He lowered it, kissed her wrist then dropped it, to follow her to barn. He led Preston to assume he was coming in the morning but being what he was, he felt better traveling at night.

Despite her every inkling to want to pin him to the next paddock and break his arm, she knew he was stronger than her. She knew it both because he was a vampire and of the same build as her ex. So she did her best to pretend she hadn’t noticed him grab her hand. but at his verbal threat, or at least what she took it to be, and the kiss on her wrist, she pulled away in disgust. ”All it takes is one phone call and you won’t just not be welcome here you’ll be dead.” It wasn’t entirely a bluff. Some of the other kids from her “day care” had had run ins with magic beings, and surely Olivia would know how to get rid of a simple vampire. She smiled innocently to him before marching into the office. She shuffled around on the desk to find his papers. ”Here it is. You were supposed to come tomorrow. Since that is not the case, there is a $25 night fee and a $200 waiver fee since you did not follow protocol on quarantine; to help with any vet bills that may incur from your horse infecting others. You will be solely responsible for any and all damages caused by your horse due to improper introduction to new environment, as well as any vet bills incurred from interactions. The rest of the first months board will be collected by Preston tomorrow.” She looked to him again, extending her hand for the money.
Prince shook his head again, sensing the mares unease of the situation, whickering gently he turned and stepped toward her. "We'll figure it out, together." He could sense she was telling the truth, at least this time. She was not trying to do anything to him specifically. He snorted, taking another step closer, despite wanting to run from the changes she was causing in his body.

J's demeanor was calm as she listed off the ammount he owed. "I assured Preston that Amadeus wouldn't be a problem, nor will he infect the other horses. To be honest he's probably the most healthiest one here. But if you insist." He pulled the wallet out of his back pocket and flipped through the bills counting out 300 dollars before folding it and placing it in her hand. He still had most of the money he had from when he sold the manor along with Mary's fortune. Before he completely let go of the money he grasped her hand again, pulling it to his lips again. He pressed a fang against the skin, not puncturing just holding it there. He tried to read her emotions from this."Are you scared?" he whispered against her wrist.
Exor's dark eyes stared at the unicorn, before she turned her hump toward him again. Her instincts completely taking over again. She didn't reply, just relaxed, bracing herself, then lifted her tail.

Devon was used to this kind of behavior from men at the strip club. Him acting like he could over power her and all. That was the joy of having her boot knife, knowing it would keep her safe. However, with the position she was in right now, she couldn't quite reach it. All he wanted was a reaction out of her, he was one of those types. He wasn't dumb enough to think she wouldn't tell, and Preston wasn't dumb enough not to listen. "You don't scare me. I've dealt with far worse." She didn't know how vampires were turned, and she didn't want to find out. She could feel her pulse picking up as he pressed his fang against her wrist; not because of fear but because of how much her heart ached for her ex. She didn't know what had happened to him. This guy...she knew getting involved with this guy was a mistake, but maybe it would ease her obsession with that prick who left without a word. "If you're thinking of raping me, the hay loft is a more appropriate place. You might think humans are beneath you, but trying to jump me on top of Preston's desk would be unwise." She kept her cool. She wished there was a bouncer here like at the strip club sometimes. It was why she wore a wig at the strip club, and colored contacts, so that hopefully people wouldn't recognize her.
Prince shook his crown, lowering his head. He could sense that the mare wasn't in control, though as his body became to ache he was losing it too. "Is this reallywhat you want?" He tried not to look at her for the moment, not even sure what he was supposed to do-he could only assume.

You've got to get close to the flame to see what you are made of.

J's eyes flickered, not for lust but for hunger. He scraped his fang against her skin, not breaking it. "Humans are just sheep." His breath hot against her inner wrist. He released her hand when she spoke of him raping her. "You'd think I'd sink low enough to rape a pathetic sheep?" He mused. His eyes closed and he turned away from her. "You might want to keep an eye on that nightmare still." He threw the wad of cash she said he owed toward her and headed back to the paddocks, to his precious Amade.
Exorcism wasn't sure of her body, wasn't sure of her mind. Instead of permiting Prince to mount she dropped to the ground, laying on her side. She didn't collapse, but standing there didn't seem safe, nor did she think she could get her body to move. "I don't know anymore.
Amadeus watched from the paddock over. Slightly angered that the Unicorn didn't take his paddock mate. "Why did you stop?!"
