Her blue eyes rolled back in her head when a groan escaped her lips. She knew she needed a job, and acording to a few people on the port, this town was inhabited by strong magic. To tell the truth she felt a connection too, but it wasn't as strong as it was back home. Maybe because the connection wasn't to The Scribe Virgin, but to the earth itself. She had called a week or so ago before she embarked on the trip to come here. The Scribe Virgin had told her and the whole brotherhood that Rhage was to be married, she had to come see how well off her brother was. [break][break]

Knowing Rhage's alias helped her pinpoint where he was asking around the town. Funny how he still used that stupid human name when he first met that stupid Mary. She had spoke to a teenage girl in town, who said this Hal Wood she was searching for was working at the school as a gym teacher as well as training martial arts on the side. Payne laughed, of course he was. As she walked into the office, she looked around. She had applied on the phone to be a school nurse, her healing ability would help that very well for magical students. As she walked to the front desk she spoke, her voice seemed to flow like honey, thick. "I'm here to see the headmaster. My name's Payton Wood." She gave the false name she used to match her brother.

Anger flowed through her, and she had to keep herself contained in her office. She couldn't destroy things as she desired, she couldn't exactly show her "wild" side here on the school grounds. She needed to see how Desdemona was doing with the Slepnir, but she was afraid someone would walk in on her giving the stare of death. Plus, she had an interview coming in.
She slammed her fist against the desk; she wasn't going to let the scribe virgin ruin her wedding. Some barbaric ritual that comes up in the middle of her wedding...her mom would have a heart attack. She could never live with herself if that came to pass...as much as her mother was a bother sometimes, she was a loving and amazing woman who taught Kaylen how to embrace her ability.

The phone rang, and her steely gaze turned toward it, willing it away. It kept ringing though.
"There is a Ms. Wood here to see you..."
Her mind instantly went to Hal's mother. Was his mother even to be considered the scribe virgin? Or was she his wife? Was it even right for Hal to marry her, after what all transpired before with Mary? No. Hell hath no fury like a Fior scorned. Her nails dug against her desk, but then she remembered her interview. She fluttered her eyes closed and drew in a sharp breath, there was still work day left and she had to focus.
She pressed the button.
"I'll be there in a minute."
She reached out with her mind, searching for Des, for comfort. She was outside of her reach though, and she could not read her. She could only hope others had not come for the slepnir. She sighed heavily again, pushing herself up out of the chair and marching toward the door. She grasped the handles until her knuckles were white...how odd was it that there was another who called herself Wood? Could she be a decoy? No. She was simply here to be the school nurse. She would avoid the conversation entirely, it was unprofessional. She put a smile on her face and opened the door, stepping into the office.
She looked around and found the elephant in the room. A young girl with looks reminiscent of the Scribe Virgin, however slight. It threw her off, but she refused to let her mind go there. She was on business.
Trying her best to hide her emotions under the smile, making sure to shield her eyes, she walked over toward the woman.
"Ms. Wood, I've been expecting you. Won't you join me in my office?"
She extended her hand toward her, letting the woman take liberty at deducing her intention, or even who she was. It was obvious by the look on the other office staff's face that she was the headmaster, but she'd leave that up to Payton...for now.
